Blog Thoughts

Good morning,

This has been quite an adventure trying to update my blog today.  It has been 2 years since I wrote anything and it is partially because I have trouble getting my thoughts written down, but also technology.  For example:  I spent a good hour today trying to access and edit my blog.  I was signed in to Google, but that darn little pencil was missing.  So I was going thru help screens, googling how to edit, asking friends if they were having trouble.  Then finally...I saw a sentence, "make sure you are signed with the the correct account name and password".  I found out my email was wrong...When did I get a Gmail account????

So here I am finally, ready to post again and add some photos from past balloon decor jobs and talk about what is happening in the world of balloons.

My latest accomplishment

Well, I finally did it, after 6 years my CBA is complete. What is a CBA you ask? I am now a Certified Balloon Artist!!!

Now, to me it is a priceless accomplishment... 5 written exams, hand-on practical, and interview that had to be passed with a score of 80% or above. What does this mean to you...that I am serious about my education and being the best I can.

The attached photos are from my hands on section where I had to recreate a design from a photo, create a centerpiece design and create a delivery piece both of my own design. (Photos attached)

Balloon Decor

I've decided that things may be bad for the economy, but in my humble opinion the media has taken everything and blown it waaaaay out of proporation. I am tired of the doom and gloom mentality that everyone has and I have decided that 2009 is going to be a GREAT year!!! So far...I'm right! That isn't to say that things aren't a little on the tough side, but I'm fortunate to have a roof over my head and a vehicle to make my balloon deliveries.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I've gotten a few decorating jobs for Daddy Daughter Dances. I would have loved to have gone to one of those when I was a child, but I don't think we had any at that time. Even now with my dad and I haven gotten older it's cool getting to spend one on one time with him. Yesterday he helped me assemble two balloon drops for the dance. One thing you need to know is dad is in his middle 80's. Who would have thought he would be helping me with my business at his age.

I've taken the first step

Well this is it, I now have a blog.

I went to a new balloon convention (Float the Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio) this week and although I only was there just one day it was fantastic. One of the classes I took was how to work your computer to increase your business exposure. So setting up a blog is my first step in marketing my business. What is my business you ask? You did ask right???

I'm a balloon artist and we have a bunch of other names for example: balloon decorator, balloon decor, balloon twister, plain clothes clowns, and I'm sure I'm forgeting some. I love what I do, creating balloon designs and giving the WOW factor at parties.

More to come, I'm taking baby steps.
